My Self Portrait

For this drawing I did a simple sketch with a NO. 2 pencil upon normal computer paper, and then went over the lines with a soft charcoal pencil, and shaded with a compressed charcoal stick and a paper stump. I found the hair and the nose the most challenging. It was particularly difficult to do the lighting upon the hair, and I could not get the look of fine, sheen hair.  I also had difficulty with the nose in relation to the rest of the face, i.e. foreground vs background.
